Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Hey, guess what, it’s Jesus’ birthday! I wondered what He’d like — I mean, what do you get a guy who has everything…literally?

We could throw Him a surprise party. Oh, wait…He’d know we were even thinking of it, let alone actually attempting it.

OK, I have it; it’s exactly what He wants, but can’t have unless we give it to Him ourselves. It’s the perfect CHRIST-mas present:

Our hearts; actually, the gift we give to Him is more than just our hearts:

  • Our BELIEF – Our certainty that He was born, how He was born (i.e., by a virgin), Who He was when He was born, what He was sent here to do (and by Whom He was sent), that He died and rose from the dead, that He accomplished His mission, and that He will return again to establish His Kingdom.

I have no doubt that Jesus knows what a stretch it is for mortal humans, with highly limited imaginations* to conceive of such things, let alone HOW they could occur.

 * (imaginations compared to His, through Whom everything came into being from nothing! I mean, come on, that takes a heck of an imagination, wouldn’t you say?)

  • Our FAITH — an unshakable trust in Who He is and what He was sent here to accomplish.

Activating our faith requires three things:

  1. First, that we believe that the scriptures are the inspired word of God (otherwise we have no basis for faith in Jesus);
  2. Second, that we KNOW what Jesus was sent here to do (to be the once-and-for-all sacrifice for all offenses committed by everyone everywhere throughout human history);
  3. Third, that Jesus’ death, in the time and manner it occurred, provided the once-and-for-all sacrifice, which the Father required to erase (not only pardon, but “take away“) all sin; and that His resurrection and ascension is the precedent for our own when we invite Him into our hearts to be Lord of our lives.
  • Our OBEDIENCE — As wonderful as our BELIEF and TRUST is to Jesus, It’s all lip service, really, without our following through on what we declare our belief and trust to be. “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice…” (1 Samuel 15:22).

Well, what do you say? Can you wrap your BELIEF, TRUST, and OBEDIENCE in the gift box of your heart, tie it with the bow of your life’s commitment to the Father, and present it to Jesus this Christmas?

I can’t wait to see Him unwrap your gift.

Oh yeah, don’t forget: He and the Father already gave you theirs.

Blessings and joy in the journey.

Author of GO GOD - Jump On Or Hang On, 'Cause God's Gonna Win!, and a REVENOUS student of the scriptures since 1972, it became clear to me that the original language translations (from Greek and Hebrew) didn't square with the English versions in significant ways...so significant, in fact, that people were once considered heretics for investigating what the original manuscripts REALLY said. The "heretic" label persists in some Christian circles today, when one's perspective calls traditional doctrines into question. Someone once said, "The odds of someone being right is directly proportionate to the number of people trying to prove him or her wrong." Since 1972, the operating principles that ultimately birthed the ScriptureDoc project are these: 1. The word of God was written for regular people, not just theologians...it has to make sense. For that matter God Himself must make sense, otherwise how can we know Him, and what benefit would there be in knowing Him? 2. When the word of God (or God Himself) doesn't make sense, it is our understanding that is lacking, not His word. We need to investigate, educate, expand, and adjust our knowledge, perception, and understanding. 3. The goal is to, "Endeavor to present yourself to God qualified, an unashamed worker, correctly cutting the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15) 4. Last one: "All scripture is inspired by God, and is beneficial for teaching, for exposure, for correction, for discipline in righteousness, that the man [or woman] of God may be equipped, fitted out for every good act." (2 Timothy 3:15-16) 5) OK, one more: "Request and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who is requesting is obtaining, and who is seeking is finding, and to him who is knocking it shall be opened." (Matthew 7:7-8) So . . .here's a forum where we look into what the word of God REALLY says, and what it REALLY means. IF you;re happy with what you've learned about God to date, this probably isn't for you; however, if you're open to what may be an alarmingly fresh perspective, jump on in. Join the live study (or by recording), called "Light Up The Scriptures" every Tuesday night at 8:00pm Eastern Time. Email me back for call-in details. Check out the book, "GO GOD! I can almost guarantee you won’t hear a rehash of tradition, but a sometimes “alarmingly” fresh perspective, dedicated to “correctly cutting the word of the truth(2 Timothy 2:15).

      Thanks again for taking the time to comment. I pray you come back often and are blessed by the content, however and to whatever extent you choose to access it.
